In keeping with our philosophy to create ‘all natural’ bedlinen, we investigated bamboo fibre as an eco-friendly alternative, discovering it has very desirable virtues as a quality fabric. As bamboo is not a wood, but a grass, it doesn't take decades to grow. Rather, bamboo is ready to harvest within a few short years and can be cultivated without the use of pesticides or fertilisers.
Bamboo fibre feels and performs like cashmere and silk melded together, possessing the softness of cashmere and the fluidity of silk. Apart from its beautifully soft handle, bamboo fibre is breathable and highly moisture-absorbent.
With its natural anti-bacterial properties, maintained in the finished bamboo fabric and throughout repeated washes, bound tightly to bamboo’s cellulose molecules. |

As a pure fibre, its softness can make it difficult to handle in the weaving process.
When combined with other luxury fibres such as silk, wool or cotton, it gains more rigidity and weight. This makes it easier to process without losing the beneficial characteristics integral to bamboo. By combining bamboo fibre with cotton, Peri has created a wonderfully soft fabric that merges the best of both fibres.
Peri’s high quality 60/40 cotton-bamboo blended fabric is incredibly durable yet luxurious. It has a soft feel, drapes beautifully on the skin and is breathable, making it ideal for quality bedlinen.
